2024 is here and it's time to DRESS FOR THE YEAR YOU WANT! As we speak, new colors, new styles and new accessories are hitting store racks and designer websites. Social media feeds are starting to bleed the latest and greatest in fashion trends! So, it's the perfect time of year to take a peek at your existing wardrobe to see what items are bordering on "dated", which pieces can be reinvented or repurposed, what can be donated and of course what new and exciting things can be added! As I did last year, I am going to summarize some of the new trends in an attempt to make the information digestible and to help you show up and dress up as your best self for work, play or for photos!
Colors
As you might already know, THE color of the year is Pantone 13-1023 Peach Fuzz. Pantone says that Peach-Fuzz captures our desire to nurture ourselves and others. It's a velvety gentle peach tone whose all-embracing spirit enriches mind, body, and soul. Leatrice Eiseman, Executive Director of the Pantone Color Institute, goes a step further saying that "In seeking a hue that echoes our innate yearning for closeness and connection, we chose a color radiant with warmth and modern elegance. A shade that resonates with compassion, offers a tactile embrace, and effortlessly bridges the youthful with the timeless." In addition to Peach Fuzz, other popular colors to watch for in 2024 are:
Pistachio Green
Almost Navy
Powder Blue
Canary Yellow
Lavender Haze
Forest Green
Light Pink

Styles
With pricing for luxury goods still remaining high, Glamour Magazine states that "quiet luxury" will continue to prevail as a top trend. Quiet Luxury is essentially simplicity over lots of sparkle, pieces that are timeless and are interchangeable. Think Carolyn Besette-Kennedy. Glamour also forecasts that secondhand fashion will continue to be hugely popular. Not only because the price point is right, but because there are so many fun and classic finds out there. In addition to Quiet Luxury, here are some additional trends that Glamour Magazine has pegged for 2024:
Girlcore (bows, ribbons and ruffles)
Sequined Everything
Prep School
C-Suite Chic

Accessories
I love accessories. They can make or break an outfit! I love this quote by Anna Dello Russo, "Accessories are like vitamins to fashion." Purses, shoes, jewelry, scarves..........oh my goodness! Here are some fresh accessory trends to know about this year per my research in Vogue and InStyle:
Oversized Shoulder Bags
Woven Bags
Round Purses
Envelope Clutches
Kitten Heels
Pointy Mules
Flip Flops and Thong Sandals
Low-Slung Belts
Hair Ribbons
Power Pearls
Layered Necklaces
Big Bangle Bracelets

I have said it before and I will say it again, wear what makes you feel most comfortable and choose styles that compliment YOUR body type and your lifestyle. Whether you are getting dressed for work, for a photo shoot, for a girls night out or a special occasion, when you feel good you will look good. When you feel constricted or uncomfortable, it will definitely dampen the mood of the event or day. If you do want help reviewing your wardrobe, putting new looks together or discovering what your signature colors are, I have two excellent resources for you:
LeeAnn Conway of Conway Image Consulting
Kristin Wiesely of House of Colour Brookfield
Lastly, If you book a portrait session with me, I offer a complimentary pre-session styling call. In this 15 minute call, we will discuss what to wear, how to prepare and other details and ensure you are ready and energized on the day of your session.
"Style is something each of us already has, all we have to do is find it." - Diane Von Furstenberg. As we move forward into this new year, I hope you find and rock your personal style and continue to be unapologetically yourself!
