What is your definition of health? To me, good health is when my body, mind and spirit are all in balance. Unfortunately, society tends to put a larger focus on physical health. The mind and the spirit, however, are also incredibly essential. After all, what drains our spirit, drains our bodies and what ignites our spirit, fuels our bodies. As women, it's very important that we prioritize mental and physical health equally. We often bear greater responsibilities than our male counterparts for a variety of reasons. Feelings of stress, overwhelm, hopelessness and inequality can sometimes be a result of these greater responsibilities. And let's face it, it's been a little more challenging to be a woman in this country the past couple of years. I'll leave it at that.
May is Mental Health Awareness Month and as it comes to a close, I can't think of a better time to share some incredible resources available to women here in the Milwaukee area (and beyond) when it comes to overall self-care and mental well-being. The following people and businesses (all women and/or women-owned!) are there to help you navigate the ebbs and flows of life and work, to provide safe spaces for well-being and self-care and to provide you with insight and inspiration when you are on-the-go. They share the a common goal of ensuring you don't feel alone while you are working to show up as your best self in life. To make the information a little more digestible, I have broken these resources down into three categories; coaching/therapy, general wellness and podcasts. I have a level of personal experience with all of these resources; I know them, some of them have helped me, I have visited their wellness centers or I have relied on their podcast episodes to bring me balance, positivity and humor. I hope they do the same for you.

Mel Robbins said it best, "Your mental health is everything - prioritize it. Make the time like your life depends on it, because it does." The mind and spirit are not only important in May, they are important each and every day. Hold space for yourself when you need to. Talk to someone, move your body, book a massage, set some new goals. It's not selfish, it's survival. Take care of yourselves, ladies.
