Each new year brings the latest and greatest the fashion world has to offer. New designers, new colors, new styles, new accessories.....oh my! I have no doubt as you have scrolled through your social feeds you have begun to see posts or photos promoting the latest trends. I also know that it can be overwhelming to digest all of that and decipher what or if any of this fits with your own personal style. I hope to make life a little easier for you by summarizing what is most popular and furthermore, what is most realistic for the "everywoman" and not the "runway model." So, whether you are looking to update your everyday wardrobe or you are looking for something fresh and fun to wear at your next photo shoot, this blog post should give you plenty of ideas to mull over!
Colors
As you might already know, THE color of the year is Pantone 18-1750 Viva Magenta. Personally, I LOVE it. Pantone states that Viva Magenta is a "New animated red that revels in pure joy, encouraging experimentation and self-expression without restraint. An electrifying and boundary-less shade that manifests as a stand-out statement. It is a color that is audacious, full of wit and inclusive of all." Couldn't have said it any better myself! This color is really going to pop against white and black backdrops alike, not to mention urban settings and out in the midst of nature. In addition to Viva Magenta, other colors to watch for in 2023 are:
Earthy Orange
Olive Green
Pale Pink
Yellow
Creige (Yes, this is a word! It's a mix of gray and beige)
Metallics (Silver, Gold, Bronze)
Edgy Black
Summer Song Blue (Grayish Blue)
Cobalt Blue

Style & Materials
Before I get into specifics, I will speak in generalities. We are back to the 90's, baby! While some styles in 2023 will be newer and we will continue to see some traditional pieces, get ready to see A LOT of items being resurrected from the days of Saved by the Bell and Friends. For example:
Crop tops/Peplum shirts
Oversized blazers
Bodysuits
Maxi skirts
Outfits that mix professional and playful articles (Think t-shirts with suits)
Cargo jackets and pants
Mini dresses
Grunge
Anything metallic or with a shine
Sheer material
Lace material
Fringe edges
Here are a few examples:
Accessories
As Michael Kors said "I always thought of accessories as the exclamation point of a woman's outfit." So what are THE accessories to look out for this year? Here are a handful:
Pearls (Not your grandmother's pearls, but ones in unusual shapes and paired with different materials)
Flower jewelry
Silver statement jewelry
Cuff bracelets
Wedge shoes
Metallic shoes
Mary Jane shoes (yay!)
Ballet Flats (also yay!)
Designer rain boots
Oversized purses/bags
Bucket hats
Knee High Socks

Now just because these are the new trends for 2023 doesn't mean that you have to style your story to match. My advice has been and will always be that you should wear what makes you feel the most comfortable, confident and chic. But if you are looking to spice up your wardrobe with a 2023 fashion staple, then I hope I have given you lots to choose from.
